Friday Favorites

The holidays are finally winding down. Writing thank you cards and packing up all the decorations are what my day has consisted of. I hate to admit this, but I am kind of ready to go back to school. The first week of was so much fun and there was so much to do. Now, I find myself in a kind of boring drag and sitting around doing a whole bunch of nothing.. And I hate that! Sure sleeping in has been nice but it allows me to let myself to stay up till 3am binge watching on netflix (which was totally nice the first 1 or 2 nights!) I'm just kind of anxious for Monday to come so then I can get back in somewhat structured routine. It will be nice to get up and have breakfast and pack my lunch and actually get dressed up! But with going back to school it brings all the dreaded piles of work teachers like to cram right before .. MIDTERMS! (trying to remain sane and there weeks away) So below are some of my favorite things to stay on task, keep with those new year resolutions and get back in the swing of things! Enjoy XOXO

1. This Motivational Video Although I think school is very important I really liked this video and how he related education to school and that they are two completely different concepts.
2.The 2 HOUR rule Props to my cousin for this one; Last year she started began high school and she allowed herself 2 hours of homework every night. No more. For a high schooler this is a reasonable time... For college student probably not so much! Of course you need to give yourself a little bit more time if you have maybe a really big test tomorrow, but I think this is a really good concept, it really gives studying a sense of structure. Trade your phone in for a really cute timer or clock and make your work area distraction free by using the computer only when you NEED to (your only cheating yourself because YOU know when you really need to use the computer ;) ) And of course reward yourself when you get into this habit!

3.R-E-W-A-R-D-S Of course getting a good grade on the test that you studied oh-so-hard for is a reward in itself. But you need a personal award, one that a physical reward!!Or maybe when you have stuck to working out all month and haven't cheated yourself on eating clean.. hello that deserves an award! It is important that you do reward yourself because it gives you a feeling of inner satisfactory. So if you have been working hard in school buy yourself something school related like some adorable pencils! Or if you have been working hard physically reward yourself with some new sneakers or adorable workout wear!
4.Myndology  When i study I always need flashcards! But white flashcards are so incredibly boring! Myndology offers so many diffrent colored "flashcards" with and without line. And the best part is theres 3 diffrent colors on each "ring" so you can color coat diffrent chapters. You defifnelty need to check out this site and all there cool study tools!
5. Routine, Routine, and Routine I know I have already talked about it but routine is really important to living a genuinely happy life because you know what to expect. Although sometimes it is fun to do things and go to places that are out of your norm, you need to have some kind of balance. Having the same wake up time can be ideal, but we know going to bed at the same time is challenging. Something that I find odly routine-ish is my night routine. No matter what time I am up working till I like to make sure my shower, and brushing my teeth and all that are always the last thing I do before bed. And it is always nice to have a cute pajama set to wear everynight so you are not just falling asleep in clothes that you were studying in (THIS IS CALLED CRASHING)".. Although I have been gulity of doing this during soccer season and a walk of shame to the shower to realize you still have yesterdays game socks on and you didn't take out your contatcts is never fun!
For christmas I recieved a pair of Tommy Hilfiger PJS and I am in love (they are somewhat similar to these)

New Years Resolutions

The year is quickly coming to an end.. already?! Time sure has flown! I feel like summer just ended yesterday. Not to mention that winter break feels like 2 days long. But as we all know, the new year brings new resolutions. Take a minute to think back to a year ago and what you promised yourself you would do differently in the year 2013.... 95% of people most likely have not fulfilled their 2013 new years resolution. I think often New Years Resolutions are made into a big deal and are perhaps goals that are almost unreachable and we turn our dreams into a resolution to make it seem more realistic but when it boils down to it, it is simply unreachable. A solution to this would be to make a few small goals. Instead of making your resolution " I want to lose weight" make it smaller and reachable; "I want to losses 20 pouds by summer time".. "I want to be in bed by 11:00 every school night with all my homework done" is a great and realistic resolution as well. Just sit back and think about something you want to change in  your life and make is a realistic goal.

Snow Day

Happy Wednesday! Wednesday can be a relief because your halfway through the week. This week has flown by, and I can thank mother nature for that! I guess you could say that I was blessed with a 5:30 am call from school and about 2-3 inches of snow? SNOW DAY.  Being the first snow day of the year, I was determined to be productive and get some things done! I began the day staying all snuggled up in bed and watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Although not exactly productive, definitely worth it! (A classic Christmas movie and I watched it for the first time this morning?!) I then got up and tackled piles and piles (2 weeks worth) of laundry. I don't re-ware a lot of my clothes in a 3-4 week span so it doesn't really get to me that I don't do my laundry daily (sure does get to my mom though!). I then did some Christmas Pinterest-ing. I found some really cute cookie and gift ideas. To continue the holiday spirit my mom and I bought up ALL (I mean 10 bins!) the Christmas decorations from the garage. My mom gave me the go ahead to decorate the house how I waned to decorate it. I then sat down for family dinner and enjoyed some of mom's homemade baked ziti! Yum! So, now I sit here on this Tuesday night (yes, a night before-kinda-blog post) about to complete some school work the snuggle back into bed and perhaps watch another Christmas movie...

Blogging

I am beyond excited to start blogging, but even more excited to get my blog up and running! As we all have experienced from joining any social network, starting up an account and following people is perhaps the hardest step. Although it can be challenging at times, I am very anxious to learn how to format and change fonts and backgrounds on my blog. The ability to change your account in the click of a button is just so exciting! Please follow me and comment below any tips you have for a starting blogger!
